Discover the core mission and purpose that drives our church.
Members of the Presbyterian faith realizing there was no church of their faith in the Bay St. Louis (BSL) area, gathered and began discussing the possibility of founding a church.
The pioneers in this endeavor were Mrs. Fred Koeniger, her daughter Sybil Koeniger and two sisters Hilda and Barbara Sick. On January 8, 1950, the first service was held in the home of Mrs. Fred Koeniger with Rev. J.N. Brown of Gulfport presenting the message.
As the church grew, the search began for a suitable building to become the first Presbyterian Church of BSL. In May 1953, a renovated army barracks building located at 138 Demontluzin Street, now 140 Demontluzin Street, was purchased, thus, the birth of First Presbyterian Church of BSL. As membership increased, the need for a larger property surfaced.
In April 1960, the present property at 114 Ulman Ave, which included a manse and property for a church building, was purchased.
